Art and aesthetics

I have published several articles on Photography and an encyclopedia entry on Film and Photography. I am currently writing two articles on Wittgenstein and Aesthetics:

1) Wittgenstein’s Picture-Theory and the Aesthetic Experience of Clear Thoughts

In the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus Wittgenstein appeals to clarity when he characterises the aim, task and results of philosophy. In this essay I argue that a commitment to the picture-theory of language has the consequence that clarity has aesthetic significance in philosophical work.

This article will appear in Images and Imaging, proceedings of the 33rd International Wittgenstein Symposium.
